Umvoto Africa was established in 1992 by Rowena Hay as a water resource development management consultancy. They are an internationally recognised as having Southern Africa’s largest groundwater specialty team, but also operate in the fields of disaster risk reduction, geo-risk assessment and prevention, integrated water resource management and geoinformatics and remote sensing. Alongside their 30 plus staff member contingent, Umvoto has a long and well-established local and international network of governmental, non-governmental and corporate advisors, and consultants. Umvoto  has a crucial role to play in successful exploration, resource estimation and sustainable estimation of multiple groundwater supply schemes. The consultancy has contributed to and been involved in implementing exciting programs such as the National Water Act (No. 36 of 1998), NEM Integrated Coastal Management Act (No. 24 of 2008), Promotion of Administrative Justice Act (No. 3 of 2000), Disaster Management Act (No. 57 of 2002), South Africa’s National Gender Policy Framework (2002) and the National Development Plan 2030 (2012).
